- The myth of Napoleon was connected with the hopes the Poles were associating with his assistance in the resurrection of Poland. The French Emperor, on the contrary, was simply using the Poles in his own interests. Nevertheless, patriotic enthusiasm, connected with his name, remained in historic memory of the nation.
