Abstract

The author considers the reasons of strikes in Poland in July - August 1980, the course of negotiations between the Governmental Commissions and Inter-Factory Strike Committees in Gdańsk and Szczecin, analyses the reached agreements, in which the main achievement was the authorities' consent to create independent trade unions.
