Abstract
The mythological concept of egg in the folk culture is very diverse and controversial indeed. On the one hand, this was the symbol of permanently resurrecting life, on the other - an object, which required very cautious treatment, inasmuch as a dangerous demonic creature might come out of it. The article considers Slavic beliefs and magic rituals, connected with the egg.
