Abstract
Easter eggs, which were inherent to all Slavic traditions, are a ritual symbol, used in all Easter practices, rituals and games and - all the year round - applied for protective, purgative, productive, prognostic and other purposes. The article analysis the material related to the symbolic meaning of Easter eggs in the Slavic festive rituals and beliefs and considers the plots of Slavic folk legends about the origin of Easter eggs.
