Abstract
The article investigates the symbolic of blossoming in the traditional culture of Slavs. Blossoming is considered as the period of plants’ vegetation, which determines the prospects on the future harvest, links it to the concept of fertility and causes many calendar interdictions, aimed at protecting of arable plants during their blossoming. In the texts, blossoming is a «vegetative parallel» to the life-path of a human being and is a universal metaphor for certain periods in human life. It is associated with the sexual maturity, readiness for matrimony and virginity, beauty, love and sexual activity, life force and renewal.
