- Abstract
- The article considers the views of Taras Shevchenko on the Slavic unity, it highlights the processes of bilateral reception between Shevchenko himself and his (diverse) Slavic surrounding, and adduces data concerning evaluations of his poetic work and political stances. The author suggests a metaphor of concentric circles of Shevchenko’s infl uence in the context of the idea of Slavic union. It is stressed, that Shevchenko’s legacy is of special relevance in the year of his bicentennial anniversary.
