Abstract
The article is devoted to the discussions in modern historiography of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina considering both the role of national movements of the Southern Slavs in the disintegration of the multinational Austria-Hungary, and the influence of the Habsburg monarchy to the social, political and cultural developments of Croats, Serbs, and Bosnians. Furthermore, the article considers national historiographies of the post-Yugoslav states in the context of the internal developments of these countries and the international relations in the region of the Western Balkans in the 1990es-2000es.
