Abstract
The article is devoted to the key problems of modern Bulgarian history: the anti-Fascist struggle in the country and its influence on the situation in the Soviet-German front, the role of the Soviet factor and so forth. After November 10, 1989, when the Bulgarian «perestrojka» had been launched, interpretation of the national history changed, and nowadays the reconsideration of the events of September 9, 1944, the role of the Red Army and the Soviet military presence in Bulgaria are still in the centre of controversial debates.
