- Abstract
- The essay critically considers Volume 10 of a unique, unprecedented serial edition «History of Polish Science», commissioned by the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1972–2015. The volume deals with the period of 1944–1989. It treats the history of Polish science of the age of People’s Poland, among others – scholarly cooperation between the Polish People’s Republic and the USSR. The authors depict science in the People’s Poland as bipolar: negatively – from the point of view of political and ideological conditions of its development, and positively – from the point of view of analysis of the practical dimension and scientific achievements.
