Abstract
After the Polish and Hungarian events of 1956 the Soviet leadership was afraid of the combined performances of the nationalist forces in the western regions of the country. As a result of the special operation had been authorized by the KGB abroad against the leaders of Ukrainian nationalists Lev Rebet and Stepan Bandera.
