The article deals with the analysis of cultural processes which have been increasingly manifes-ting themselves in various local groups in the recent years. Under consideration are the Pomor, Izhma Komi, and Ust-Tsilema groups, the cultural development of which displays many common traits. The main focus of attention is identity as well as the specificities of identification within each of the groups.
