- Abstract
- The article discusses the signifi cance of calendar celebrations in the shaping of ethnic identity among the Mordva, taking the Trinity celebration rites as a case study. Various forms of holding the celebration in the late twentieth and early twenty fi rst centuries are examined. Special attention is paid to its structural elements which have acquired the meaning of certain ethnic symbols that are instrumental in bringing people together and strengthen the national identity sentiment.
