- Abstract
- Taking the case study of Turkey’s Kurds as an example, the author discusses the interconnections between education, assimilation, and gender. He argues that the lower rate of literacy observed among Kurds (especially women) in Turkey was an impediment to their assimilation. Today, to foster the assimilation, the Turkish authorities are actively promoting education for Kurdish girls.
