Abstract

The article examines the history of emergence of Kalmyk communities in European countries and the USA as a result of two emigration waves in the 20 ^th century. It discusses social and political activities of Kalmyk emigres in Western countries and the capacity of Kalmyk diasporas for adaptation in the new states.
