Abstract
An attempt is made to find out the prospects of using the concept of intellectual movements in the sociology of knowledge. The study of materials on the sociology of science revealed an increasing interest in the sociological analysis of the activities and processes of institutionalization of poorly structured intellectual communities. The case of the Moscow methodological circle (MMC) is used as an example confirming the applicability of the concept under consideration for specific research.
