Abstract
Based on the research materials, the explanatory resources of Soviet sociology are analyzed in relation to studies of occupations and professions. The author refers to the legacy of research on the social structure of Soviet society, in which the study of socio-professional groups was carried out. The article considers the contribution of “factory sociology” – a movement that played an important role in the development of many sociological disciplines, including the sociology of occupations and professions in Russia.
