Abstract
Based on the data of all-Russian surveys from the mid-1990s to 2013, it is shown that due to the completion of the structural adjustment of the economy in Russia, the importance of stratification factors that ensure intergenerational reproduction of classes has increased, and the role of those that are associated with personal activity has decreased. It is concluded that the existing mechanisms of mobility lead the country further away from the meritocratic ideal of an equal opportunities society.
