Abstract
The article examines the consequences of emigration from Russia of scientists and highly qualified specialists. On the basis of a comparison of Russian and foreign statistics, the scale of the “brain drain” for the period 2002-2010 – specialists with higher education, doctors and candidates of science-is estimated. The channels of emigration are identified based on interviews with scientists and specialists who have lived in different countries of the world for more than one year.
