- Abstract
- The situation with scientific explanation in Western and domestic sociology is characterized; descriptions, forms of theorizing, analogies, metaphors, etc. are given for the explanation. The types of scientific explanation, including the explanation based on regularities, are considered. It is argued that a comprehensive explanation of social phenomena can be obtained by combining various explanation procedures, combining structural and functional explanations with teleological explanations, combining teleological explanations with genetic explanations, and so on. this is an ideal that sociologists can approach.
