Abstract

The analysis of the results of the population census in the national republics of the Russian Federation in 2010 and the perception of its results by experts is presented. The article shows that the changes in ethnic identification are conditioned by the strengthening of integration processes in Russian society and the need to interpret them not from the standpoint of the assimilation paradigm, but from the standpoint of the realization of the individual's rights to cultural freedom.
