Abstract
The article discusses the aesthetic function diminutive, widely used in the Russian folk lyric songs. The abundance of diminutive suffixes is specific linguistic phenomenon of Russian culture. The frequency of use diminutive in Russian folk song lyric led to classify the feasibility of them. The article is illustrated by numerous examples from the texts of lyrical songs.
