Abstract
This article deals with the role of dynastic ties between the monarchs of Russia and Montenegro in building-up political contacts between the two nations in late nineteenth – early twentieth centuries. The rulers of Montenegro obtained significant benefits from these bonds Emperor Nikolas II remained invariably generous to his Balkan ally. By the same token, one cannot state that the Russian government’s hopes for reciprocal gratitude and solidarity came true.
