Abstract
The article considers the foreign policy of Hungary in August 1920 - November 1921 with a special attention paid to its Czechoslovak direction. It is concluded that in the period under scrutiny Budapest was striving for diplomatic rapprochement with Prague despite the contradictions separating the two Danube states. Their de facto mutual recognition in August 1920 and ratification of the Trianon peace treaty by both parliaments in November 1920 and February 1921 respectively, as well as personal meetings of the foreign ministers of Hungary and Czechoslovakia in March, June and September 1921, were the milestones of the policy of appeasement.
