Abstract
Development of Slovak literature after 1989 is characterised by demarkations within the writers' community, abolition of censorship, inclusion into circulation of the work of dissidents and emigrants, shift of young authors towards Postmodernism and so forth. In the twenty-fi rst century, novel in its indiviually defi ned forms became the leading genre. Works published after 1989 show interest in the past in order to understand the present, go into a detailed analysis of the individual's maturation and self-knowledge, and defi nition of the moral parameters of these processes.
