- Abstract
- The article is devoted to the concept of "the rights of the russian people" in the treatises of Orthodox writers, who worked after the Church Union of Brest (1596) and theirfore originally combined East-Slavic Orthodox culture with the Western heritage of legal thought. First and foremost, it concerns such a specifi c concept as "the rights of people" and the idea of contractual nature of the state. Particular attention is paid to the works of Meletius Smotrytsky, in which the new legal concept was developed in detail.
