- Abstract
- The article sets out the conditions presented by the authors as needed to conduct a linguistic analysis in order to differentiate the vocabulary of the Old Testament books from the viewpoint of its belonging to the lexical inventory of the St. Methodius’s translation or to the later Preslav translation or editing. The authors suggest a study to be performed on the vocabulary of the Old Testament in comparison with the vocabulary of the New Testament and other manuscripts of the «Old Slavonic canon» using the method «from the Greek lexeme to Old Slavonic lexeme». The article also features some observations on the lexical peculiarities of the oldest Slavonic Old Testament manuscripts, already made by the authors concerning the denomination of persons.
