- Abstract
- The Comeniology, or Comenius Studies is an interdisciplinary study of the legacy of the great Czech philosopher, pedagogue, political and religious fi gure of the seventeenth century Jan Amos Comenius. It has a long tradition, but has experienced a renaissance at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-fi rst centuries. This has to do with the reconsideration of values after the Velvet Revolution, when, with its full right, his religious philosophy came out on top. The article analyses in details the development of Comeniology in the present day Czech Republic, Poland and Russia, shows its most signifi cant, creative and in many respects innovative results. The work of Comenius is now treated in the context of the Age of Baroque as one of its highest peaks.
