Abstract
The main stages of institutionalization of military sociology in the USSR and the Russian Federation are considered. The article presents the results of reflecting this process in the publications of the journal “Sociological research” for a 40-year period (a total of 162 materials on a wide range of problems of military sociology were published from 1974 to 2013). The materials are structured by ten-year periods. The article analyzes trends and problems in the formation and development of Russian military sociology.
