Abstract
The paper deals with the marking strategies of the foreign (Spanish) elements in the speech of the Slavic diaspora in Argentina and Paraguay. The material for the analysis are the narratives on the Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian, Polish and Ukrainian languages, collected by the author during the field research. The typology of the marking strategies is presented. The informants mark those elements that are conceived as unusual for the Slavic grammatical and lexical system. The marking may be not only structural, but also semantic and ideological (involving the marking of a certain communicative situation).
